About Us

Gerry’s Goods, Inc. was founded in September 2006 by a team of individuals from New Song and Columbia Presbyterian Church who came together to fulfill a vision offered by one of Sandtown’s lifelong residents, Gerry Palmer. Gerry’s vision was to open a neighborhood corner store that would enable him to “give back” to the community he has called home his entire life. The name “Gerry’s Goods” was chosen as a tribute to its founder and the motto “Everything’s Good at 1500!” was adopted to reflect the nature of this store and the role it plays here in the Sandtown community.

Gerry’s Goods is located at 1500 Presstman Street in the Sandtown neighborhood of West Baltimore, Maryland. Sandtown is a community with a rich history and deep cultural traditions, but one that has been plagued by the problems facing many of our urban neighborhoods.

Gerry and co-owner, Antoine Bennett, are passionate about serving Sandtown. They are working closely with
New Song Urban Ministries, a community-based non-profit focusing on the issues that affect this community.
NSUM provided technical assistance to Gerry’s Goods throughout the planning stages and continues to support the community development impact of the store in this neighborhood. Gerry’s Goods is pleased to be the first economic development store in partnership with New Song.

Gerry’s Goods will offer our guests the ability to obtain goods in an environment that is clean, safe and predictable.
Gerry’s Goods is a part of the Sandtown community, not just located in the community. As a tribute to the heartfelt, energetic and enthusiastic commitment of our neighbors, we dedicate this store to them.

Gerry’s Goods is not a store of hype but a store of hope! We are committed to delivering a good product with
a good attitude. We promise a quality of service that corresponds to our message: “Everything’s Good at 1500!”
